A long-held and loved tradition at UT Dallas took place Friday, when students, faculty and staffers participated in Oozeball 2012.
To understand Oozeball, think volleyball, then add a bunch of slippery mud beneath the net, pigpen-style. On Friday, 16 teams participated in the event, themed “Ooze Clues.”
The “Whooshers” won the tournament. Their team’s name will be engraved on the Muddy Cup trophy, along with the names of other victorious teams since the tournament’s inception. The trophy is caked with mud from previous Oozeball tournaments.
The faculty and staff team won its annual match against students, which means its players claim the rights to the Coleman Cup for another year. The Coleman Cup is named after former Dean of Undergraduate Education J. Michael Coleman, who initiated the Faculty and Staff vs. Students game several years ago.
Oozeball has been a tradition at the University since 2002 and is organized by the UT Dallas Student Ambassadors. Chair of the event was Emily Lichtenheld.
