Three students and one adviser from UT Dallas’ Black Student Alliance were recognized recently at the Big XII Conference on Black Student Government.

Designed to address issues facing African-American students on college campuses, the conference is a top student leadership conference in the United States.

The UT Dallas students who were honored are:

  • Danielle Brager, a sophomore mathematical science major from Houston, Non Big XII Sophomore of the Year.
  • Shanica Pompey, a junior biology major from Dallas, Non Big XII Junior of the Year.
  • Rosena Hatcher, a senior business administration major from Dallas, Non Big XII Senior of the Year.

In addition to the students, Netreia McNulty, coordinator of student success and outreach at UT Dallas’ Multicultural Center, received the Advisor of the Year Award.  McNulty graduated from the University in 2004.  She is in charge of the Comet STARS program, which pairs younger students with mentors.

The conference, which took place at Feb. 14-17 at Oklahoma State University, offered seminars, interactive workshops and programs.

UT Dallas’ Black Student Alliance serves as the representative voice of the black student body academically, politically and socially to promote unity, success and involvement.
