UT Dallas has appointed Randy Rikel as associate vice president and controller, overseeing the financial operations of the University, including general accounting, payroll, student financial services and financial reporting.

“We are fortunate to have a professional with Randy’s qualifications and experience join us at UT Dallas,” said Terry Pankratz, vice president for budget and finance. “Our ability to recruit him is a testament to the positive momentum the University is building as we continue our rapid growth and progress toward Tier One recognition.”

Rikel, who is a certified public accountant, is a veteran administrator with more than 17 years in accounting and business operations at higher education institutions. His experience will help UT Dallas develop a business office infrastructure that will offer “seamless support of our students, faculty and staff,” Pankratz said.

“I am honored and grateful to be given the opportunity to join a ‘first choice’ institution such as UT Dallas. I look forward to working side by side with students, faculty, staff and administration as we stride toward accomplishing many future goals,” said Rikel.

Before joining UT Dallas, Rikel was vice president for finance and administration at Texas A&M University in Texarkana. As chief financial officer, he was responsible for all aspects of accounting and financial reporting as well as administrative services, including facilities, police and human resources.

Before his service at A&M Texarkana, Rikel worked in progressively responsible positions in accounting, budgets and payroll at West Texas A&M in Canyon, where he ended up as associate vice president and controller.

He has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from West Texas State University, which was later renamed West Texas A&M University.
