The UT Dallas Police Department and University community are mourning the loss of Senior Guard Jesus “Jesse” M. DeGuzman, who died Friday. He was 70.

DeGuzman served the Police Department for more than eight years and was named Guard of the Year in 2007.

He joined the University in 2002, when he started work as a guard on the main campus.  He remained stationed in Richardson until 2007, when he was promoted to senior guard and became the lead guard at the Callier Dallas campus and the Center for BrainHealth in Dallas.

Survivors include his wife, Fe; two daughters, Jessiefe Holloway and Grace DeGuzman; a son, Michael DeGuzman; two brothers; an aunt; and a grandson.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, at Restland Memorial Chapel on 13005 Greenville Ave. in Dallas. Burial will follow in Restland Memorial Park.

A visitation is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 1, at the funeral home. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association.
