Four new tenured and tenure-track faculty members joined the Naveen Jindal School of Management this semester, adding further expertise in accounting, information systems, marketing and operations management.
“Every year we look to new faculty, particularly tenured and tenure-track members, to bring the Jindal School fresh ideas in education and research,” said Dr. Hasan Pirkul, Jindal School dean and Caruth Chair of Management. “This year is no exception. We require top credentials; we expect expertise; we anticipate the enthusiasm of our new hires will energize us all. Their outstanding talent helps students, benefits the business community and builds the reputation of the Jindal School.”
Earlier this year, the school celebrated its history and progress at an event marking its 40th anniversary. The evening highlighted the growth of JSOM, which boasts enrollment of more than 9,100 and faculty numbering 287.
UT Dallas’ largest school continues to climb in national business school rankings. Earlier this year, the Full-Time MBA program earned 37th place in the nation in U.S. News & World Report’s latest ranking of graduate schools. The Professional MBA program moved up three spots to 26th, and the information systems program ranked 16th. The school’s production/operations programs were ranked No. 21.
“The Jindal School has attained national and international stature for the research productivity of our faculty and the high quality and work-readiness of our graduates,” Pirkul said. “Those attributes and others help yield top rankings for our programs and help us to stay true to our goals of delivering excellence in business education and being one of the best public business schools anywhere.”
This fall, the school launched a new business economics concentration to answer the growing demand for graduates with analytical and applied business skills in fields including finance, banking, planning and management.
The concentration, part of the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree program, is directed by finance and managerial economics clinical professor Peter Lewin.

Dr. Nathan Goldman
Dr. Nathan Goldman, assistant professor of accounting
Previously: PhD candidate, University of Arizona
Research interests: Taxes and business strategy, corporate taxation, accounting for income taxes, auditing of income taxes, capital markets, disclosure decisions
Quote: “Taxation, both at the corporate and individual levels, has a significant effect on virtually every business decision. My research goals as a faculty member are to better understand why firms make tax decisions, as well as the consequences of these tax decisions. Additionally, I hope to create an atmosphere for learning about taxation where my students will become engaged in the topic and grow as young professionals.”
Dr. Sanjay Jain
Dr. Sanjay Jain, O.P. Jindal Distinguished Chair in Marketing

Research interests: competitive strategy, behavioral game theory and experimental game theory

Dr. Amit Mehra

Dr. Shouqiang Wang
Dr. Shouqiang Wang, assistant professor of operations management

Research interests: strategic decision-making problems in business sectors, such as operations management, supply chain and marketing, and public policies, including sustainable operations, environmental regulations, health care and national defense
Quote: “An overarching theme of my research is to identify managerial and operational solutions to improve efficiency and mitigate misalignment of incentives among decentralized entities, in the presence of asymmetric information and dynamic strategic interactions in these contexts.”
