Dr. Hasan Pirkul
As the UT Dallas Naveen Jindal School of Management’s student population rises to 7,500, up 7 percent from fall 2013, the school has added nine new tenured or tenure-track faculty members to further enhance its academic and research programs.
The newest faculty members — experts in accounting, finance, information systems, operations management and organizational behavior — build on the Jindal School’s momentum as the number of students, faculty and programs rise and the school continues to climb in national business school rankings.
“We are pleased to welcome these new faculty members to our accomplished academic roster of innovators, scholars, researchers and leaders. With these top scholars and creative minds joining the University from the world’s leading institutions, the Jindal School will continue its rise among national institutions of higher education,” said Dr. Hasan Pirkul, Jindal dean and Caruth Chair of Management.”
The Jindal School’s newest faculty members arrived on campus as the school opened its doors to a new addition that will accommodate the school’s growth. The expansion, which increases the school’s size by 50 percent, was completed in August.
“Our goal has always been to be among the best business schools in the nation, and we’ve done that with the help of our distinguished faculty members who are some of the brightest minds in the business world,” Pirkul said. “Our newest hires will strengthen our reputation and help position us for sustained growth for years to come.”
Dr. Atanu Lahiri
Dr. Atanu Lahiri, assistant professor, information systems
Previously: Assistant professor of information systems, University of Washington Foster School of Business
Research Interests: Digital piracy, software security, telecom economics and health IT

Dr. Sheen Levine
Dr. Sheen Levine, assistant professor, organizations, strategy and international management
Previously: Principal investigator, Columbia University
Research Interests: I study people’s behavior and how it impacts others, organizations and markets. I have studied how knowledge sharing affects performance, how open collaboration facilitates innovation and how ethnic diversity deflates price bubbles. I currently study how “paying it forward” creates surprising acts of kindness, how “mind reading” enhances performance and how isolation can bring breakthrough ideas.

Dr. Toyah Miller
Dr. Toyah Miller, associate professor, strategy and entrepreneurship

Research Interests: Innovation and change, international contexts of business, entrepreneurship and corporate governance

Micro-enterprise, entrepreneurship, social enterprise, and youth and young-adult workforce development as tools for poverty alleviation are passionate interests of mine personally and professionally.”
Dr. Anyan Qi
Dr. Anyan Qi, assistant professor, operations management

Research Interests: Capacity management, supply network and supply chain management

Research Interests: Equity valuation and examining the role of earnings and earnings predictability in generating stock price volatility and the implications for asset prices

Research Interests: Online retailing
Quote: “I found that online retailers have many new levers to learn and influence their demand. For instance, online retailers have access to customer clicking and browsing data. They can use online marketing tools like sponsored search advertising to influence demand. It’s interesting to investigate how these new levers can be used to improve retailers’ operations.”
