The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Inc., has elected U.T. Dallas School of Management Professor Suresh Sethi to one of its top honors, naming him an IEEE Fellow. Dr. Sethi’s election will take effect on January 1.

IEEE President Joel Snyder cited Sethi’s contributions in control and optimization of management and economic systems in announcing his election to the organization’s highest grade of membership. IEEE selects only one-tenth of one percent of its 300,000 members worldwide annually to fellowship status. Fellows are selected for extraordinary records of accomplishment in any of the IEEE fields of interest.

Sethi, who is UTD’s Ashbel Smith Professor of Operations Management, also was recently named a senior editor of Manufacturing and Service Operations Management (MSOM), the journal of the Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences. He becomes the second UTD School of Management faculty member to be invited to serve as a senior editor for the journal of the 12,000-member society, which represents professionals in the fields of operations research and management science. Dr. Rajiv Banker, UTD’s Ashbel Smith Professor of Accounting and Information Systems, is also an MSOM senior editor.
