Proving that maintaining standards of ethics and compliance is everyone’s job, UT Dallas President David E. Daniel announced last week that he had completed required annual compliance training.

Daniel asked that all eligible faculty and staff to do the same by the March 31 deadline.

The University’s required annual compliance training program is designed to provide all faculty and staff with up-to-date information about required procedures and standards of conduct, and to ensure that the University meets the requirements of state and federal agencies in terms of employee training.

“We want people not only to know the minimum standards of compliance but also to practice and promote a high standard of ethics every day, no matter what their functional role on campus,” Daniel said.

“The training is a reminder to be aware of risks in work areas across campus and of the proper way to conduct business on behalf of the University in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations.”

compliance manager

All benefit-eligible University employees hired before Sept. 1, 2009, must complete annual compliance training mandatory by state law, University of Texas System or University requirements. UT Dallas benefit-eligible employees hired during fiscal 2010 (Sept. 1, 2009 – Aug. 31, 2010) complete separate training and join other employees in the regular training cycle in fiscal 2011.

“The training is a reminder to be aware of risks in work areas across campus and of the proper way to conduct business on behalf of the University in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations,” said compliance manager Paul Teel.

Employees required to complete compliance training may do so from any computer with an Internet connection. The required 2010 course modules, available through eLearning, include:

  • Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Information Security.
  • Ethics.
  • Drug-Free Workplace.
  • Copyright and Intellectual Property.

ELearning is the University’s online learning portal and serves student, faculty and staff distance learning needs.
