Dwight Clasby
UT Dallas President Dr. David E. Daniel has appointed Dwight Clasby as the interim vice president for development and alumni relations, effective Sept. 13.
Clasby, a veteran fundraiser who has been assistant vice president for development and alumni relations at UT Dallas since 2009, succeeds Dr. Aaron Conley. Conley has been vice president since 2008 and recently accepted the position of vice chancellor for advancement at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
“Aaron’s accomplishments have been many, and we wish him well in his new role in Colorado,” Daniel said. “At UT Dallas, he increased the size and scale of operations in the development and alumni relations office, and hired many very talented people. He also launched numerous new programs and initiatives, expanded outreach to alumni, and led UTD’s first comprehensive fundraising campaign.”
Daniel said that moving forward, Clasby will focus on major gifts, important development projects and strengthening alumni engagement. One of his key responsibilities will be the completion of the University’s five-year, $200 million Realize the Vision fundraising campaign, which began in 2009 and will conclude Dec. 31. The campaign surpassed its goal earlier this year.
“Dwight is taking on this interim appointment with enthusiasm and insight, and I am confident that he will continue the outstanding work of the development and alumni relations office,” Daniel said.
During the last five years, Clasby has been responsible for overseeing the University’s major gift operations, foundation relations and research.
Prior to joining UT Dallas, Clasby served as vice president for external affairs for Communities Foundation of Texas. His previous experience also includes alumni relations at the University of Miami, Coral Gables, and serving as director of development at St. Mark’s School in Dallas.
A committee will soon be formed to conduct a national search to permanently fill the vice president position, Daniel said.
