Beginning in January, each UT Dallas student with a Zmail account should be on the lookout for an email from the Information Resources office stating that your Zmail account is going to be migrated to Microsoft Office 365.

Here’s what students should do when they receive the notification and before their Zmail is migrated:

  • The transfer will happen automatically, and students will receive an email when the process is complete. Students should continue to use the same NetID email address and password to log in to Office 365.
  • Identify any emails in your account that are 25MB or larger in size. These will not be automatically migrated to the new system. If you want to keep these large emails, you must save them and any related attachments to your hard drive, a memory device or a cloud storage location before you switch to Office 365.
  • Once your email account has been the migrated, you may set up the new system on mobile devices, if needed. Instructions and additional information about the process can be found at the Office 365 FAQ site.

Migrating student email accounts to Microsoft Office 365 will allow students to have 50 gigabytes of email storage, as well as free access to Microsoft Office software and 1 terabyte of storage space for files in the cloud.

Several hundred faculty and staff Zmail accounts are expected to be migrated to the new system in March. All other faculty and staff are expected to receive notice of their email migration in mid-2015.
