Marcel van Dam will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Jonsson Performance Hall.
An international singer-songwriter and a jazz vocal ensemble are both slated to perform this Friday at UT Dallas.
At 7:30 p.m. in the Jonsson Performance Hall, Alliance Française de Dallas and the School of Arts and Humanities will present Marcel van Dam, a musician, singer and songwriter from the Netherlands and France.
Van Dam has won many awards for his music, including first place for Impul’sons, which is organized by French newspaper L’Est Républicain. Marcel is in the process of recording his fourth album. He has also composed, produced and recorded children’s musicals. Van Dam’s music has country, folk and blues flavors. His influences include Johnny Cash, Norah Jones and James Taylor, among others.
The New Collection will perform at 8 p.m. Friday in the Alexander Clark Center.

The show is free to UT Dallas students, faculty and staff with a valid Comet Card at the box office the night of the event.
Also on Friday at 8 p.m. in the Alexander Clark Center, The New Collection, a 24-voice community-based jazz vocal ensemble from North Texas, will perform.
The New Collection is directed by Paris Rutherford, professor emeritus at the University of North Texas who founded the Vocal Jazz program and directed the renowned UNT Jazz Singers for 30 years. The ensemble specializes in performing vocal arrangements of jazz standards and jazz-flavored arrangements of popular music, both a cappella and with a four-piece rhythm section.
General admission tickets for this show are $15, and can be purchased online. Admission for students, faculty and staff is free with a valid Comet Card.
