A retired brigadier general, Jack Pellicci, now group vice president of Oracle Corporation’s Government and Education Division, will speak on “The Impact of the National Home Land Security Strategy on Higher Education” Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 3:30 pm in the Conference Center on the campus of the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD).
The lecture, which is expected to be the first in a series on Home Land Security at UTD during the 2002-03 academic year, will be free and open to the public.
“We are delighted to have Brigadier General Jack Pellicci visit UTD,” said Dr. Da Hsuan Feng, vice president for research and graduate education at UTD. “His insights into the President’s national homeland security strategy and its impact on higher education could have important implications for many U.S. universities and their research initiatives.”
Pellicci served for 30 years in the U.S. Army, where he led and trained people, managed technology and improved productivity in command and staff assignments in both peace and war. He served as general of the Personnel Information Systems Command, where he led a large work force of government employees and civilian contractors to provide information technology support to 1.5 million Army soldiers and civilians.
Pellicci is a graduate of the U. S. Military Academy at West Point, where he received his bachelor of science in engineering. He also received a master of science in engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and is a graduate of the U.S. government’s senior course, The Senior Executive Seminar in National and International Affairs.
He also is a member of the External Advisory Board for the Office of Research and Graduate Education at UTD.
