• Computer science freshman Sumanth Pisipati (second from left) spent Family Day with his mother, Pratyusha; sister, Kirthana; dad, Venkata; and dog, Pepper.

More than 1,600 family members reconnected with their UT Dallas students recently during Family Day, a full day of games and activities that included a catered lunch and music and dance performances.

Participants joined in family-friendly activities sponsored by the Student Wellness Center and Recreational Sports, and got a glimpse of campus life by visiting open houses sponsored by Residential Life and Fraternity and Sorority Life. Students and their families were also able to use the Activity Center and Recreation Center West.

The morning welcome program included greetings from University President Richard Benson; Dr. Amanda Smith, dean of students; Akshitha Padigela, Student Government president; and Dr. Conrad Capili BS'08, 2016 Undergraduate Alumni Achievement Award recipient.

Upcoming Homecoming festivities, Nov. 9-12, will provide another opportunity for families to celebrate their Comet pride.
