Before and After: Plans for the North Campus Mall Renovation

A $15 million renovation of the north end of campus will begin during winter break in December. Landscape architect Peter Walker’s campus enhancement plan will expand north from the McDermott Library to the Administration Building.

The project comes after the $30 million transformation of the south end of campus, which was completed in 2010.

Proposed changes to the less formal north end of the campus will include “cutting the pavement by half” and incorporating more green spaces, such as lawn terraces and elm groves, for a more park-like environment.

During the construction period, faculty, staff and students will be instructed about how to navigate across the north campus mall, including making use of the skywalk that connects the Administration Building with the Erik Jonsson Academic Center, Founders North and Founders Building, and Green Hall.
