New transportation features at UT Dallas will help students, faculty and staff navigate campus a bit easier this fall.

Parking guidance systems in all three parking structures will help drivers quickly find available spaces on each level.

Parking guidance systems in all three parking structures will help drivers quickly find available spaces on each level. Parking guidance is also viewable on the UT Dallas app (Apple and Android) and Shop UTD app (Apple and Android). In addition, several parking lots were updated and improved over the summer. With the completion of the new Engineering and Computer Science West (ECSW) building, Lot I, just north of Parking Structure 4, is reopening with 115 spaces.

The city of Richardson added 500 feet to the eastbound left-turn lane at Campbell Road and Waterview Parkway to improve traffic flow to campus. The city also finished repairs on southbound Floyd Road to Campbell Road and added bike lanes to Floyd Road and on southbound Waterview. Though traffic flow should improve, please allow extra time to reach your destination during the first week of classes.

Parking permits may be purchased online or in person at the PS3 Parking Office (PS3 1.200) from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays. TollTags are also available for purchase online and then can be picked up at the PS3 Parking Office.

Comet Cruisers are the buses that serve the University and surrounding community. Please carefully review the route map and schedules to make your transportation plans.

Comet Cabs, the University’s campus shuttle service, will run seven routes this semester, with expanded service on the Rutford North route to include service to Synergy Park North (SPN). The cabs also can be tracked by GPS.

Comet Cabs routes have been expanded for fall. The shuttles can be tracked by GPS.

Because of enhancement work being done on campus, Rutford Avenue will be closed to vehicles except golf carts. Pedestrians should use the sidewalks to allow Comet Cab traffic to continue smoothly along the street.

The University Trail extension now provides a 3 ½-mile paved hike-and-bike path around the entire campus. Starting at Waterview Parkway and Franklyn Jenifer Drive, the trail goes north to Synergy Park Boulevard, and turns east on the south side of Synergy Park Boulevard to meet existing paths on Floyd Road.

The University added more bike racks outside Engineering and Computer Science South (ECSS) and the newly renovated southwest entrance to the Administration Building (AD), which also features outdoor seating areas.

On-campus transportation services include bike repair stations, vehicle charging stations, Booster fueling service, the UT Dallas Zipcar fleet and the bike-sharing service VBikes.
