UTD’s Musica Nova ensemble, directed by Composer-In-Residence Robert Xavier Rodríguez, will perform “Bach Meets Babar,” a multi-media concert, on Friday, Dec. 14, at 8 p.m. in the Jonsson Performance Hall at The University of Texas at Dallas.
The concert will feature Bach’s Suite in B-Minor and Poulenc’s The Story of Babar. Pierrette Lacour will narrate Jean de Brunhoff’s classic children’s story about a baby elephant. Slides of the author’s celebrated original drawings will be shown. Other works on the program include The Elephant from Saint-Saens’ Carnival of the Animals, Jimbo’s Lullaby from Debussy’s Children’s Corner and the world premiere of a sonata for clarinet and piano by Jeff Lankov.
Tickets for the concert are $10 for general admission and free for anyone with a UTD photo identification card.
