An innovative art exhibition entitled “Floored” and jointly sponsored by The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) and The University of Dallas in Irving will be held at the Visual Arts Gallery on the UTD campus from Sept. 28 through Oct. 26.
A reception will be held at the gallery at 6:30 p.m. on the opening day of the show. The exhibition will be open on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
In the “Floored” exhibition, the art is re-framed away from the wall and off the pedestal, explained co-curator and highly acclaimed artist John Pomara of UTD.
“Viewed from above, the floor begins to function structurally as a field of pictorial information violating the normal conventions of painting and sculpture,” said Pomara.
The other co-curator of the exhibition is Christine Bisetto of The University of Dallas. Artists participating in the show will be Elizabeth McGrath of New York City; Jessica Halonen and Brooke Stroud, both of Houston; Michelle Monseau and Meg Leghorne, both of San Antonio; and John Breazeale of Dallas.
