The School of Arts and Humanities prepares students for the global, diverse, change-intensive and technologically sophisticated environment of the 21st century by providing an integrated interdisciplinary education that fuses critical with creative thinking, the arts with the humanities, the arts and humanities with other branches of knowledge, and theory with practice.

Communication and the arts share a vibrant creative space with the sciences and technology in the courses taught and research conducted in the School of Arts, Technology, and Emerging Communication. The coursework includes study of animation, interactive design, virtual environments and critical media studies.

Graduates work in entertainment, business, education, medicine, science and various other fields. Other classes explore the impact of digital media on social structures and cultural institutions. Students learn critical, creative and collaborative skills in web design, digital aesthetics, writing, social media, and platform and application development.

Students, faculty and staff members of the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences are committed to understanding the intersection of mind, brain and behavior. The school prepares students to become tomorrow’s pioneering researchers, clinicians, social service professionals and corporate leaders.

With 13 degree programs and four major research centers, faculty and students cover topics as diverse as how the brain changes through experience to what factors contribute to optimal child development, from how infants recognize their parents to how older individuals can maintain their cognitive skills.

The School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences provides leadership in tackling humankind’s urgent concerns. The faculty is committed to cultivating professional scholars and practitioners who prize learning, synthesize knowledge, analyze complex issues and dedicate themselves to truth and justice.

The sphere of interests is wide. Risk management, economic performance, political violence, electoral behavior, health care, democratization, social inequality, international trade and conflict resolution are only a few of the diverse themes that claim the attention of reflective social scientists.

The Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science recently completed a major public-private initiative that greatly expanded its capabilities, including construction of a new state-of-the art 220,000-square-foot interdisciplinary research building, and opened a 200,000-square-foot engineering building.

The school has six academic departments: bioengineering, electrical and computer engineering, computer science, materials science and engineering, mechanical engineering, and systems engineering. It operates one of the largest internship programs of its kind, with nearly 600 student placements a year at hundreds of Dallas-area companies.

Because of the individualized focus and flexibility, the programs are appropriate for both students preparing to enter the workplace and those planning to continue their studies. The Naveen Jindal School of Management programs are responsive to business requests and are designed to meet industries’ strategic needs. Undergraduate, graduate, PhD and executive-level programs stress technological innovation and a global outlook while providing a foundation in business management.

Executive education specialty degree programs appeal to such professionals as physicians, project managers and systems engineers. Customized certificate programs, including coaching, consulting and sourcing management are available. Recently, MBA programs and research productivity have climbed to the top 20 in well-known rankings.

The School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics offers over 30 undergraduate and graduate programs within its six departments: biological sciences, chemistry and biochemistry, geosciences, mathematical sciences, physics, and science/mathematics education. Each program is research-intensive with close cooperation from industry.

Faculty members compete at the national level for sponsored research. Graduates go on to pursue careers at colleges and universities as well as in industrial, medical, public health, environmental and governmental organizations.
